As many of you know, we have not had an increase in our ad rates since 1998. In order to continue to keep our fees low, we have decided to place a few advertisements on our site. We have chosen advertisers that we believe will be relevant and beneficial to you, our viewers, and to our membership of inmates. Please consider using these advertisers as often as possible. Your patronage to these sites will ensure our ad fees to inmates are not increased and our site will always remain free for you to use. Thank you for your long and continued support and pen palling. 07/01/08 - I am a British documentary filmmaker, producing a film for UK television about the men who write to women in US prisons via one of the online pen pal services.
As part of this film I would very much like to speak to men who are or have been signed up to the service. I am interested to hear stories from people currently writing to one or more inmates on a regular basis, those who feel that they have been 'scammed', men who have found love, and those who have gone on to marry their pen pal.
I am especially keen to hear from anyone who has made the journey to visit their pen friend at one of the correctional facilities or is planning to visit for the first time in the next few months.
If you are interested in taking part in this film, would like to share your story off the record or would like more information, then please email me in strictest confidence on: Wingham.lizzie@googlemail.com
Many thanks for your consideration, Lizzie

05/30/08 - I am writing an article for a national magazine about women who fall in love with prisoners. For this I am looking for British women, aged between 25 and 45, who wrote to a prisoner and eventually dated or married him. Anyone interested in taking part should contact me on natasha_holt@yahoo.co.uk Many thanks, Natasha Holt
05/12/08 - Hi there, my name's Kim, I write for an Australian national weekly magazine. We publish real life stories on the inspirational lives of real people.
We're looking to do a positive story on an Australian woman who has been a pen pal of an inmate and fallen in love (and possibly even married/become engaged) as a result OR an Australian woman who has a husband in jail and the difficulties/support systems needed with that. We have no intention of putting a negative spin on the story and anything written will be read back to the subject before going to print to ensure they're happy with it and the details are correct.
It's also important to note that the subject and inmate will have to be named and pictured and both parties would have to give their permission to be involved in the story.
The subject chosen could be paid for their time and effort and again, the story will be read back for approval.
If your story fits the description above and you're willing to be featured in the magazine please email me at kim.bonett@pacificmags.com.au and give a brief run down of your story. Should we be interested, we'll let you know.
Many thanks, Kim
02/28/08 - I'm a Producer at a leading British documentary production company called Raw TV (www.rawtelevision.co.uk).
We're extremely well respected both in the UK and US and are known for a mixture of high quality programming from current affairs to traditional documentary to drama-documentaries. Please do look at our company website as you'll find lots more information on us, our productions and be able to view to short clips of our work.
We're looking for contributors for a new series of drama-documentaries called Trouble In Paradise. The series is for National Geographic and tells the stories of young people who travel abroad and end up serving time, often for drug trafficking although the offences can vary, in foreign jails. Using a mixture of detailed personal testimony from the person / people that lived through the experience and high quality dramatic reconstruction, we tell the story of how they became involved in what they did, what their time in prison was like and how they came out the other side (this only applies to those who have completed their sentences).
To make something very clear: the series does not seek to judge the people who have lived through the experience, rather it gives them the chance to tell their story in their own words. The style of the series means there is no voiceover / narration and every piece of information the audience hears comes directly from the contributor. As such, we can't sensationalize the events or in some way be unfaithful to the story. Most people that have agreed to take part have done so because they recognize the series will have a cautionary message at its heart. Many people get themselves into a situation they truly live to regret. By telling their story, they hope to talk directly to those thinking of doing the same thing.
If you think you have a story to tell, I'd certainly like to talk to you. Some qualification though: we are looking for people who were around or under the age 40 at the time of their arrest and it's better for us if you have now completed your sentence. This doesn't mean you shouldn't get in touch, just that time is of the essence!
You can email your contact details to ahsan.mian@rawtelevision.co.uk or call me direct here on +44 207 017 3973.
